Cobham Rugby

Welcome to Cobham RFC Mini Section

To all our new members, a warm welcome to Cobham Rugby Club Mini Section. To our many returning members, an equally warm welcome back.

At Cobham our objective is to build confidence in our boys and girls, while developing agility, coordination and fitness through training sessions that are above all fun. Rugby’s values of Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline and Sportsmanship are what make the game special and are at the core of our Mini Section. It is no coincidence that three-quarters of last season’s First XV started years earlier in the ‘Minis’.

Cobham has a strong family and community ethos. We have a large and well organised mini section which is mainly due to the dedication of our volunteers. There are many rewarding ways to participate, from coaching to catering to coordinating. You don’t have to be an expert, just enthusiastic. If you’d like to get more involved than the occasional carpark duty, please contact either myself or your age group head coach or manager.

We are fortunate to have such superb grounds and facilities and we aim to make the most of them by hosting a number of mini rugby festivals and triangular tournaments, including our popular annual floodlit festival.

Off the pitch, we are very fortunate to have access to such superb facilities, especially the new family-friendly downstairs bar, which is now open all day from Tuesday to Sunday. We are very keen for our members and the local community to make the most of this fine addition to the local amenities. All are welcome.

The Mini Section contributes enthusiastically to the club’s social life. Our Halloween Spooktacular and Summer Ball have become highlights of the local calendar. Please consult the club website for the jam-packed social calendar (link). We hope this season to develop further a ‘match day experience’ which will allow our age groups and parents to enjoy the amazing atmosphere of Cobham First Team home games.

One thing to mention that will, no doubt, enhance our Sunday mornings – the BBQ hut is being run by a new caterer from this season, bringing an improvement in quality and service.

Also, this season sees the long-planned introduction of membership cards. The benefits to club members will include, but not be limited to, cheaper drinks at the bar. So don't forget your card.

We are always on the look-out for new recruits. If you know anyone who is wondering what to do with their Sunday mornings and who might be interested in signing up for Cobham Minis, please contact our Membership Secretary, Nicky Eggar here.
