Cobham under 10’s welcomes boys and girls of all abilities and experiences to join us on Sunday mornings.
We promote the core principles of rugby; namely Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline and Sportsmanship (TREDS) in our sessions and fun is at the centre of everything that we do.
Coaching is provided by parents who themselves attend training courses provided by the RFU and we have a number of experienced, licensed RFU coaches running the U10 age group. Child safety is paramount and as such all participating parents are DBS checked.
Our club is run almost exclusively by volunteers and parents are expected to volunteer for occasional duties to help in the running of the club (eg. road crossing, first aid, helping at home festivals, etc.). There are so many ways to get involved at the club. If you have a skill that could help out, please don’t be shy and let us know about it. We’d love to hear from you.
U10 sees some of the biggest changes in the development of Children’s Rugby. It is at this age group, that contesting for possession first occurs with the introduction of the ruck and the maul. We also introduce the uncontested scrum this year.
For more information on U10 rules please check out the RFU Website here
We practice from 10am to 12.00pm on Sunday mornings on pitch 4 on the Covenham Ground. The Covenham Ground is on the opposite side of the Portsmouth Road to the Memorial Ground (main Cobham RFC fields). The pitches are behind the Fairmile Pub and there is parking at Munro House. We require that each child remains under the supervision of a nominated adult (no drop and go).
Bar and catering are open at the club house on Sunday mornings.
We play in several festivals and fixtures during the season both home and away. A detailed fixtures list can be found on the Minis home page. http://www.cobhamrugby.co.uk/minis/mini-fixtures/
