Outstanding volunteer contributions to the Club are recognized

Cobham secure three nominations in the Mitsubishi Motors Volunteer recognition programme

President Lionel Frewin,Clubman of the year Stephen Spick and long term mini and youth manager Nik Myers were nominated for the Mitsubishi Motors Volunteer of the Year Awards for their work as a rugby volunteers and their dedication to the game.

The awards are part of the Mitsubishi Motors Volunteer Recognition Programme which provides grassroots rugby clubs and the rugby community with opportunities to recognise and reward the volunteers who make up such an integral part of the game.
President Lionel Frewin was recognised for the outstanding work that he undertook in ensuring for the club that the new members bar was completed within budget and on time and Stephen Spick for his all round contributions to the mini section in particular in organizing extremely successful mini festivals and Nik Myers for his work as manager of the under 17 and for the long term support he has provided his age group.
Lionel  Stephen and Nik are three of a select group of rugby volunteers in the area who were invited to attend an awards event held at the Oatlands Park hotel last month.
Chairman of rugby Steve Heard said '' Cobham RFC would not be able to provide its members with the wonderful facilities and opportunities without the unstinting contributions made by people like Lionel and Stephen and we are very proud of these nominations'' 

President Lionel Frewin said 'I was delighted to be present at the Mitsubishi regional volunteer awards ceremony, held this evening at the Oatlands Park Hotel Weybridge, at which Steve Spick and I collected awards following nomination by the club. Nik Myers was also a recipient of a volunteer award, although not able to be present this evening.Two lady finalists, one form Esher RFC and the other from Chobham RFC go through to the finals at Twickenham in September. Excellent hospitality and a convivial and friendly atmosphere – many thanks to both Surrey RFU and Mitsubishi for putting on an enjoyable event.

As well as the Mitsubishi Motors Volunteer of the Year Awards, the programme offers a number of opportunities to say thank you to the thousands of volunteers who give back to grassroots rugby, week in, week out.
